The living-room as war scene

Bush’s doctine of preventive war and the (potential – naja, ist ja schon längst im gange) war against Iraq which large parts of world population objects to is on many artists’ minds, too. The ideological poles of left and right wing politics have diminished at the loss of a clear orientation of what is good and what is evil. However, this orientation always only seemed to be clear, no matter what agitprop and revolutionary art wanted us to believe. The artist Max Kraus took pictures of his parents’ house’s interior design and atmospheric still lives. Its design radiates 50s ”gemütlichkeit”. Kraus represents these interiors as if veiled by green gauze. This artistic device lends the photographs an air of military observation: as if shot with an infrared(?) camera/on infrared film.

The discrepancy between post war-“gemütlichkeit” and military green implies the potential danger a preventive war might bring into all living-rooms worldwide.

Your living-room coulb be the next to be searched "Restlichtverstärker" for "Feindtauglichkeit".
